hosur.com is a free local noticeboard for Hosur and nearby areas. Rent a home, sell a bike, give away a cot, find a job or a local service, all in English, Tamil or Kannada.

Posting is free for individuals. There is no account and no password: you confirm each post with a code sent to your email. Listings stay up for 30 days and can be renewed with one tap.

We keep the site simple and fast so it works on any phone, even on a slow connection. We only ask for the information a listing needs, and we never sell or share your details.

How it works

Is it really free?

Yes. Posting, browsing and contacting sellers are all free.

Do I need an account?

No. When you post, we email you a code. Type it in and your listing goes live. Your phone remembers you, so you won't need a new code every time.

I didn't get the code.

Check your Spam or Promotions folder. It comes from no-reply@hosur.com. You can ask for a new code after 60 seconds. Codes work for 10 minutes.

Why is my listing "being checked"?

Some listings are checked by a person before going live, for example all job ads. This usually takes less than a day.

How do I edit, mark sold or take down my listing?

Open My listings (the link is at the bottom of every page), or tap "Is this your listing?" on the listing, and confirm with a code.

How long does it stay up?

30 days. You can keep it up for another 30 days from My listings.

I took my listing down by mistake.

You can put it back up within 30 days from My listings.

Who can see my email and phone?

Nobody sees your email. When a buyer sends you a message, it is forwarded to your inbox; your email is only shared with them if you reply. Your phone number shows only if you add it, and only when someone taps "Show phone number".

Can I post in Tamil or Kannada?

Yes. Write in any language, or tap the microphone on your keyboard to speak.

Posting rules: what you can't post

Listings that break these rules are removed. Serious or repeated breaks get the email address banned. You must be 18 or older to post.

Stay safe

hosur.com only connects people; we don't handle money or check every seller. These habits prevent almost every scam.

Buying or renting

• See the item or home in person before paying anything.
• Never pay an advance, "token" or deposit to someone you haven't met.
• Meet in a busy public place for small items; bring someone with you for property visits.
• Check the documents for property (sale deed, EC, RERA number) before paying.
• Prices far below normal are the most common sign of a scam.

Job seekers

• Real employers never ask you to pay for a job, training kit, uniform or "registration".
• Don't share Aadhaar, PAN or bank details until you've visited the workplace.

Selling

• Don't accept "overpayments" or requests to send money back.
• Never share OTPs or UPI PINs. Nobody needs them to pay you.
• Wait until money shows in your bank or UPI app before handing over the item.

1. Who we are. hosur.com is operated by [OPERATOR NAME], [ADDRESS] ("we"). By using hosur.com you agree to these terms, our Posting rules and our Privacy policy.
2. Who can use it. You must be 18 or older to post or contact a seller. You may browse at any age.
3. What we are. hosur.com is a platform where people publish their own listings. We are not a party to any sale, rental or job, we don't hold money, and we don't guarantee any listing, item, property, employer or user. Any deal is between you and the other person.
4. Your listings. You are responsible for what you post. It must be true, legal, yours to offer, and follow the Posting rules. You must not post anything that is obscene, defamatory, invades someone's privacy, infringes copyright or trademarks, harms children, promotes hatred or violence, impersonates someone, contains viruses, threatens India's unity, security or public order, or breaks any Indian law.
5. Permission to show your content. You keep ownership of your text and photos. You give us permission to display, resize and translate them on hosur.com and in links shared from it, until the listing is removed.
6. Moderation. We may review, hold, edit for formatting, hide or remove any listing, and block an email address, phone number or email domain, when we believe it breaks these terms or the law. We will act on valid court or government orders as required by law.
7. Contacting other users. Use contact details only to discuss the listing. Spam, harassment or collecting users' details is not allowed and leads to a ban.
8. No warranty. The site is provided as is. We try to keep it working and safe but can't promise it will always be available or error-free.
9. Limits on our liability. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from listings, deals between users, or use of the site. Nothing here limits rights you have under Indian consumer law.
10. Changes. We may update these terms. We'll show the date at the top, and tell users about changes at least once a year.
11. Law and disputes. These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at [CITY], Tamil Nadu have jurisdiction.

We collect as little as possible, use it only to run your listings, and never sell it. This notice is written to meet India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and its Rules, and the IT Rules, 2021. [OPERATOR NAME], [ADDRESS], is responsible for your data (the "Data Fiduciary").

What we collect, why, and for how long

If we remove a listing for breaking the law, we keep its details for 180 days, as the IT Rules require, then delete them.

What we don't do

• No selling or renting of your data. No ads and no ad trackers.
• No account profiles, no password, no location tracking.
• Photos are cleaned on your phone before upload: hidden data such as GPS location and camera details is removed.

Cookies, storage and analytics

We store only what the site needs on your device: your sign-in, your language and list/grid choice, and a random number used to count a view once per day.

If you say yes when asked, we also use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used, so we can improve the site. It sets cookies and sends your IP address and device details to Google, which may process them outside India. If you say no, Google Analytics is never loaded. You can change your choice any time with "Analytics choice" at the bottom of every page.

We don't use tracking cookies.

We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It uses no cookies and doesn't identify you: it only sees the page, where you came from, your browser type and country.

Companies that help run the site

• Supabase: database, sign-in codes and photo storage, hosted in Supabase's Mumbai (India) region.
• Hostinger: the website and our email (no-reply@hosur.com, contact@hosur.com).
• Google (Gmail): our admin gets a short alert when a contact form message arrives.
• Cloudflare Turnstile: a spam check on the sign-in, message and contact forms.
• Google Analytics: visit counts, only if you agree. Advertising features are switched off.

They process data only to provide these services to us. Some are companies based outside India and may access data from abroad under their own security commitments.

Your rights

You can ask us to show, correct or delete your data, nominate someone to act for you, or withdraw your consent (this deletes your listings). Use My listings to take listings down yourself, or write to the Grievance Officer. We acknowledge within 24 hours and resolve within 15 days. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

hosur.com is for adults. You must be 18 or older to post or contact sellers. We delete data we learn came from a child.

Security and breaches

All traffic is encrypted, access to data is limited to what each part of the site needs, and admin access needs two-step sign-in. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board without delay, as the law requires.

What happens next

If you're unhappy with the decision, you can appeal to the Grievance Appellate Committee set up by the Government of India (gac.gov.in) within 30 days. For personal data complaints, you can also approach the Data Protection Board of India.
